Fiesta of Virgen del Carmen

Virgen del Carmen is the patron of fishermen and so has a special significance in fishing ports such as Puerto de Mazarron. Following a Holy Mass in the fishing harbour the statue of the Virgen is loaded onto a fishing boat with great ceremony, and leads to fishing fleet and other craft on a trip to Bolnuevo (the home church of the Virgen) before returning to Puerto.

Thousands of local people and holidaymakers are invited to enjoy a free boat ride to witness the ceremony.
