DIFFICULTY:- A LONGER ROUTE WITH SOME UPHILL SECTIONS. SOME OF THE PATHS ARE OVERGROWN WITH PLANTS. CONSIDERED DIFFICULT |

1. It is possible to start at either Pastrana (1) or La Atalaya (9). The path travels through an area known as Malcamino in the Sierra de Los Cucos.
2. In Pastrana start by taking the Camino del Calar from the Education Centre in the village. The path passes through typical local cultivations of tomatoes, olives, almonds, carob and extensive grazing. The Rambla de Malcamino takes into the heart of the territory before joining the Rambla de Pastrana.
3. The aspect changes to the arid vegetation found in watercourses and unirregated farmland.
4. One of the most important nature reserves in Spain exists here. The Asociación de Naturalistas del Sureste (ANSE) have established a reservation for the Moor Turtle in order to re-populate the species in the wild. These animals have been reduced in numbers over the years due to illegal trade.
5. The path ascends parallel to the ravine through an area of reforestation with mediterranean pines.
6. Peculiar formations of gypsum can be seen at the bottom of the ravine, and the remains of ovens used to prepare the product years ago. The harrier eagle lives here as well as partridge, whitethroats and others.
7. A small path, almost hidden by bush leads to the Montegrifo ravine. Here the remains of the iron mines at Santa Rosa can be found.
8. The path descends passing through the unirregated farmland of La Atalaya, joining the Mazarron - La Atalaya road at Km11.
