Mazarron on Route - La Caņar de Tallante |
|
DIFFICULTY: THIS ROUTE CAN
BE EASILY EXPLORED BY FOOT OR VEHICLE. IF YOU START AT ISLA PLANA
THE TRACK ASCENDS GENTLY INTO THE MOUNTAINS BEFORE DESCENDING TO
TALLANTE |
The Caņar connects the coastline of Mazarron Bay to the inland farming area at Tallante and is regularly used as a rural road. Accordingly you should be cautious as other vehicles occasionally use this route. No route markers have been placed as it is impossible to get lost.
The area is a nature reserve and provides the explorer with
a wide spectacle of plant and wildlife set against the beautiful backdrop of
the white mountain Peņa Blanca.
The length of the route is about 8 Km measured from the start point in Isla Plana to the "town centre" in Tallante. However many explorers will prefer to start a little way from Isla Plana as the first Km or so is rather boring, passing through flat countryside surrounded by plastic tomato greenhouses.
Place cars at both ends of the route; food and refreshments can be easily obtained in both Isla Plana and Tallante.
